Triple Seven pellets under a sabot with a 250 gr. XTP, and I can regulate the .45-70 to hit the same POI as the Huntsman. That cuts out a little second guessing.Luckily, most of the classic offerings came back with the new ownership including this unique loading of the 405-grain Core-Lokt bullet. As .45-70 was originally intended for black-powder firearms, there are many “weak” action styles out there, like that of a Trapdoor Springfield. For hotter loads I use 2400 and for much hotter loads I use 4198 or RL7. Unique is dirty but very accurate and easy on the shoulder.

I use 5744 in my Savage 10ML-II Muzzleloader and it works fine.
