Phet sound.

Description. This homework covers the topic of sound and uses the simulation to assist understanding of key concepts. The homework consists of two multiple part problems facilitated with the sound applet. This activity was developed in 2003 before most of our research with PhET interviews and before we developed the Inquiry Guidelines.

A damped wave is a wave whose amplitude of oscillation decreases with time, eventually going to zero, an exponentially decaying sinusoidal wave. Record wavelength number 1 (0.5 cm and frequency at 1.00) and then increase the amplitude (height) and keep the frequency the same. Amplitude now at 1.00 cm, but frequency stays at 1.00 Hz.
