I have the Deluxe Edition, and I've listened to the mono mix once. The stereo mix is not exactly hi-fi, but the songs benefit from the (minimal) stereo separation, imho. The original stereo mix has some balance issues regarding the volume of the instruments relative to the voices, plus the awkward panning. The remix retains most of the poor panning decisions and adds unnecessary reverb.Thriller was recorded analog! On 3M M79 24 track machines. My fave 24 track for sound quality and one of the best transports ever made and gentle on tape. Engineered by Bruce Swedien.
