Dec 18, 2023 · Dec 22, 2023. It makes sense for S. populator to have a mostly uniform, tan-brown color coat, similar to a lion, as it was a hunter of the grasslands and plains of South America. And S. fatalis, being a forest predator, was mostly likely to have a spotted coat, similar to a jaguar.
