Jun 9, 2020 · H335 is an excellent powder and is my "go to" powder for my 52-55 gr jacketed bullet 223/5.56 loads along with 125 - 150 gr jacketed bullets in the 30-30 and 308Ws. With cast, H335 is excellent as long as you have the bullet mass and pressure level so it ignites and burns efficiently. With your 45-70 loads that's where you are. The .45-70 I get from Defender is loaded with a 350gr bullet, powder unknown, primer unknown, and Starline brass. The ammo ships in reusable 20 round plastic boxes. It is $1 per round. For the 45-70 it lists load and pressure data for what I thought of as inappropriate powders like 4064, 4895, 4350, 4320 and 4831. The 4831 data showed really attractive TD or BP level pressures ... It should give around ~1200/1400 fps in your rifle. I have used it in one of my 45/70's but, not by itself, I used it as a priming charge for 4831, for a better loading density. H110/296 is a excellent reduce charge powder. In BR shooting, it's not position sensitive.
