SF stood for short frame...meaning shorter trigger reach. It is my understanding that the Gen 4 models without any backstrap installed has the same reach as the SF frames. The quick and dirty is that the 30SF is a full sized 30 slide on the Short Frame (SF). The SF frame reduces the distance between the front & back straps to allow for more trigger reach on the G30. The 30S is a G36 slide mounted on the SF frame. Less weight and easier to carry/conceal.The overall thickness of the Glick 30 is 1.38 inches and the Glock 36 has 1.18 inches thickness. The slide is 1.12 inches thick on the Glock 30 and 1.0 inches on the Glock 36. So, there’s a little yet obvious difference between their overall size and thickness. This slight difference makes the Glock 36 better to hold and concealed carry.
