If I remember correctly the kit comes with a hinge adapter that you can use with a standard buffer tube if you wanted to. The legacy MCX used key mod for the handguard. The Virtus uses M-lok for the hanguard and the steel cam plate on the left side of the upper says "Virtus" while the legacy steel cam plate is blank. Legacy MCXs are black while Virtus generation can be gray, FDE or black. The legacy MCX came with iron sights from SIG.
Basically, legacy MCX was shipped black anodized, but demo units were shown tanodized. All upper conversion kits are black anodized.
