The 500 can looked at as a functional truck, no frills, but does what it is supposed to do, fire when the trigger is squeezed. The 870 is more refined looking and does the same as a 500 reliably as well. Differences include what the OP mentioned which may important to an owner down the line of time. Like. B.
Probably easier to find Remington parts but right now i am not seeing anything other than field model Remington's. The Winchester feels very solid. Like I said at outset it may come down to availability. I will not be gouged so it limits where I can buy. The Maverick 88 is chambered for 12-gauge 2 and 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells. It has a cylinder bore Barrel meaning that you cannot use adjustable chokes that screw into the end of the barrel which is totally fine. The remington is steel with the safety where its supposed to be, the mossberg is aluminum with a tang mounted safety. In my opinion both have shit finish but the remington gets an edge for having slightly tighter fitting furniture.
