The MGW is a lot tighter, if that's what you're looking for. The C5 and C6 are a lot looser, but also a lot smoother and much less effort to shift. As mentioned, the box is the same for both C5 and C6. You may wish to replace the rubber bushings that mount the box, though.

My only experience with short throw shifters in the C6 is the B&M and the MGW. You can buy the mgw shifter with the non threaded rod and the c6 shift **** slides on to it. I installed the mgw last week in my 2002z. I had the SAME EXACT question you have. the instructions for the c5 show the "old style" stick which was in the stock position, which mounted directlly on top of the base stick. the stick i got was similar to the one in their c6 shifter install directions.
