18 posts · Joined 2009. #3 · Oct 9, 2015. I know you have EFI Live, but for those who don't, I used a load resistor to make sure my CEL didn't come on. I deleted mine and two days later, I had a Check engine light. It was for the air intake heater, so I erased the code, installed a load resistor and yet have the CEL come back on.
Ram Year. 2006. Engine. 5.9 Cummins. 2006 ram 3500 5.9 dually. My check engine light for the intake heater came on last year and just now getting around to fixing it. So today I replaced the intake grid heater and the heater relay today and i still have no luck. The relay has 4 terminals on it. Then dealer threw in a smarty programmer he had ordered for it and i set it on level one to start with. I took it down the highway and when cruising at 70 the wts light kicked on and chimed a few times.

More than I wanted to spend, but the only company that makes them specifically for the C&C trucks and plus I like the idea of the added flow of the intake horn.

The only other thing to try before buying the sensor is to put it in a heated garage over night (above 50deg.), and see if the ses light comes back on. banyon. If the grid heater was on you would see the draw on the amp meter. Keep a test light in the truck with you & when it comes on see if the grid solenoid is getting power. It should have power to one side but not to the grid itself. The ECM is not seeing the relay. Try disconnecting the main power cable for the relay instead. The relay will still work. Just no longer supply power to the grid heater. Was a little disappointed not to see a bump in mpg's, but at least its soot free now.
