Just a word of caution - Waterton can be windy. In either park, even in the summer, you will want some warm clothes especially in the evening. If you enjoy hiking and views, then Glacier National Park is much nicer than Waterton. I personally much prefer Glacier National Park to Waterton.

There are boat tours, boat rentals, bus tours, and horseback tours inside the park. There is rafting outside the park on the west side. Make sure you read up on vehicle reservations for 2024 - you will need a vehicle reservation to enter ... West Glacier is extremely convenient to the west side of the park - you should only be a few minutes drive to the west GTTSR entrance. It's farther from the east side - Many Glacier in particular is a few hours away. I find it more convenient to split my time between the two sides to reduce drive times. While there are rooms available most lodging inside the park does not open until late May or mid June due to it's still winter in the park. Many Glacier- Hotel and Motel do not open for the season until June 8th and 12th. Rising Sun- does not open until June 15th. Lake McDonald Hotel/Cabins- opens on May 18th.
